Unable to mention a private Chatter Group on record feeds when org contains many similarly named Users
Last updated 2018-06-09 ·Reference W-4483385 ·Reported By 1 users
When attempting to mention a private Chatter Group on a record's feed in an org containing many users with names similar to the Group, the Group will not appear in the list of options.
However, if the user attempting to mention the Group has previously interacted with it (mentioning it elsewhere, posting on its news feed), the Group WILL appear when attempting to mention it from the Chatter Tab news feed.
- Org with ~100 users whose names contain a shared value (example: user's name are appended with their department's name).
- Private Chatter Group whose name contains the same shared value (example: the aforementioned department's name).
- User attempting to mention the Group must be a member of it and have previously posted in it.
1- Navigate to the Chatter Tab news feed and attempt to mention the affected Chatter Group.
2- Confirm that the Group will appear in the list of Users / Groups to mention.
3- Navigate to a record's feed and again attempt to mention the affected Chatter Group.
4- Confirm that the list of proposed mentionees only includes the ~100 users whose names contain the same value as the Group's name, but NOT the Group itself.
Change the Group's name to a unique value to differentiate it from similarly named users.
