External Users can run reports on custom objects when the Custom Object OWD sharing setting is "Public".
1 - Create a Custom Object, ensure it is enabled for reporting.
2 - Set OWD external sharing for this object to "Public Read" or "Public Read/Write"
3 - Create several records within your new custom object.
4 - Create a report on your new custom object. Save your report to a folder that is acciessible to your external user.
5 - Login to your portal or community.
6 - Run the report, you will find the report can be run and the records are vislble.
By design, object OWD sharing settings need to be set to "Private" and then sharing rules may be created to open up visibility as desired. It is recommended to continue utilizing the private sharing model as any reports based on objects currently utilizing the "Public" sharing model will no longer be visible to External Users when the Known Issue has been resolved.
