This is essentially a riff on the myTrailhead offering that came out recently which allows customers to create an internal branded learning site based on Trailhead that enables custom course creation as well as inclusion of regular Trailhead content.
That's great, but if we're enabling custom course creation why not give that power to AppExchange partners? I'm imagining two possible scenarios initially:
- An app vendor creates a course related to their own app. Might be offered free (i.e. to help sell the app or gain buy in from potential consulting partners) or just to paying customers.
- An independent trainer or Consulting Partner creates a custom course (likely paid), either for some general Salesforce-related topic, OR a specific AppExchange offering. (Looking at you Mike Wheeler).
These would probably need to be a new class of Trailhead badge which may or may not count toward a person's rank (perhaps more like a SuperBadge?). In Scenario #1 they could be vetted as part of the process of vetting the app itself (and may even make that process easier by serving as documentation of a sort). In Scenario #2 the courses could become profit centers for the provider and Salesforce if paid, and/or a good "show-n-tell" marketing outlet for consultants and job-hunters.
KEY SELLING POINT. Given that we're dealing with Salesforce based apps, the courses could fully leverage the "Check my work" model where the lesson programatically checks the playground to see if you did an exercise correctly.
