Include Contact/Lead Phone and Email on Task Detail in Lightning Tasks page

Sales Productivity (Notes/Activities/Calendar )

The Tasks tab in the Winter 17 Lightning Experience lists Tasks that are open. In the right panel it displays details about the Task that has been selected in the list, allowing users to use this list as a "tickler file" for activities to be done, including phone calls to make. But the Task Details does not show the Phone Numer or Email of the Contact/Lead, which makes this tab pretty worthless for users wanting to use it to make callbacks. The Phone and Email are standard fields for the Task in the Classic view.

In reporting a Case to Salesforce Support, it appears that Lightning does not allow for any Read Only fields like the Phone and Email to be included in this view. Both of these fields should be there.

In Salesforce Classic, we did show Phone and Email of the 'Name' lookup (Contact/Lead) on the Task/Event (see screenshot). These fields aren't standard on the Task page layout and something we put together years ago.

Within Lightning Experience, fields on the record are limited to the available fields on the object.

However, this workflow is available on Lightning Experience in a slightly modified manner. When on a Task record, if you hover on the Contact/Lead lookup, you should see the phone number & email data on the hover component. The fields you see upon hover are driven by the Compact layout on the Lead/Contact object.

And it is also possible to replicate the Salesforce Classic functionality in Lightning Experience with some customizations. See details here.
