Do Not Lose Email Tracking History (IER) when Converting Lead to Contact

If Marketing Cloud emails are sent to a Lead, and that Lead is converted to a Contact all prior email tracking history (via the Individual Email Results custom object) is lost, and not associated to the Contact (https://success.salesforce.com/_ui/core/chatter/groups/GroupProfilePage?g=0F9300000001pQ5CAI&fId=0D53000002cdyKECAY).
This idea is to make email history tracking automatically included across the entire cycle of the customer from Lead to Contact. This should be standard functionality that is included in the Marketing Cloud Connector managed package that is installed in Salesforce.
