Chatter Publisher Action Should Have Option to Not Post to Feed


Chatter Publisher Actions are AWESOME and I can't wait to see how they continue to evolve. One feature that I can see a need for is the ability to configure an action not to post to the record's feed.

An illustrative use case is time tracking.

We have a custom time object and a Chatter Publisher Action which allows users to log time in that object from a "task" record in TaskRay. Each time they do so, a Chatter post is created in the task's feed which contains the link to the time record that was created. This is fine behavior until multiple users are logging multiple time entries on a single task, at which point the task's Chatter feed fills with these time entry links and becomes quite noisy for collaboration purposes. Ideally, when a Chatter Publisher Action is created it would have a checkbox saying something like "Post to feed when action is taken" so this behavior can be turned off when it isn't desired.

    With Spring '16 we added a field to the Create a Record and Log a Call action types that gives you control over whether the action creates a feed item after it executes. For more information, please see the release notes:
