Additional (easier) options for VisualForce Security detail page

Salesforce Platform, Administration & Sharing, Apex & Visualforce, User Experience

It would be nice if there were some additional options at the VisualForce page level for security.  A large percentage of the time we deploy applications to our entire group of internal users.  Adding an option or two to allow automatic sharing of a page to all internal users or globally (including portal) would be beneficial.  In addition to making deployment of company wide applications much easier, this would also make the addition of new profiles a much easier process.

Understand the objective. The general posture with respect to page and apex class security is to be more explicit given a Visualforce pages (and apex classes) can bypass other security settings.

That said, have you considered permission sets for this case? You can enable security for visualforce pages (and apex classes) on permission sets now (from the permission set page) and you can assign a permission set to users. You can also automate that with a trigger on user if you want as well.

We'll revisit the security posture but in the meantime I hope this helps in some way.
