Last Activity Date is not logically correct - please fix

Accounts & Contacts

If you have a company with several contacts, the "Last Activity" date is reflects the last time you contacted someone at the company.
If, for example, I create an activity for a contact and link it to an opportunity, the last activity date for the account does not update.

So, I can meet with my contact, link the activity to the opportunity and the account last activity date is incorrect.

Salesforce support say this is how it is meant to work.  Logically, it is flawed.

My solution is to update the account last activity date each time a contact activity is added regardless of if it is linked to the account, opportunity or anything else.
