Email Attachments should be saved to Salesforce

Hi,

I just talked to the support and they confirmed that currently its only possible to save email attachments within Salesforce by using the Outlook plugin OR doing manually from within salesforce.

I strongly suggest to add this functionality when using the "email to Salesforce" option, for example when sending mails from Googe Apps (Google Mail) and also when sending a mail from within Salesforce.

There is truly no reason why this should not work with these two channels, especially if you have chosen "Always save email attachments" in your "My email to Salesforce" options.

Please let me know if you are working on solving this issue already.

    Hi folks, 

    The original idea was around saving attachments when emails are sent from Salesforce and also via Email to Salesforce. Both of these are now addressed:
    1) When you send emails in Salesforce with Enhanced Emails enabled, the email will be logged as an Email Message along with the email attachment. The Email Message record is associated to every recipient as well as the related record (account, opportunity, etc).
    2) When you send emails from an email client and BCC the Email-to-Salesforce Address with "Always save email attachments" enabled, the email will be logged as an Email Activity record along with the email attachment. The Email Activity record is associated with relevant contacts, leads, opportunities, accounts and custom objects depending on configuration.

    Also - some of the comments refer to the desire to have Lightning for Outlook/Gmail associate email attachments with the related record (e.g. accounts) and not just with the EmailMessage record. Please log a separate idea for this so we can track.
