Text Area (Long) Formula support

Globalization & Custom Schema

If unlimited support for Text Area (Long) fields is too hard for salesforce to add to Formulas, let's at least provide limited support for these functions so one doesn't have to resort to APEX: 1. Test presence/absence of a long text field example: if a checkbox is true, a corresponding text area (long) box must be non-null (e.g. an explanatory note must be provided by user) 2. Equality assignments. example: A Cross-object formula Obj1.FooTextAreaLong = Obj2.FooBarTextAreaLong this allows a detail page for Obj1 to display values from related objects' (Obj2) long text area fields 3. Concatenation example: FieldA = FieldB & BR() & Field C

All, unfortunately this functionality is not currently on our roadmap. To be transparent, resources in this area have been focused on delivering our new Lightning Experience, and we still have a couple of releases to go with that project before we can start broadening our scope again. The product management team hears the demand for this and has it on the backlog to revisit once we've completed Lightning. Thank you again for the feedback. I will be sure to update this space if any new information becomes available.
