Auto Numbers should not increment with Run Tests

When running tests it would be ideal if Auto Numbers did not increment. This only causes confusion to the users and business process owners when they see the auto number (especially in a Name field) jump hundreds if not thousands of units which can easily happen if you have multiple tests on one object and when you execute many deployments. When the auto number field first came out Apex didn't exist and this wasn't an issue. Now that there is Apex this is an issue. Thanks.

In Spring '14 there will be an org preference to use a different sequence for autonumber during tests.

It's important to note that this does NOT guarantee a continuous sequence of numbers - please see my earlier comment and the great comment by Brian Fear.
