Option to set Event Time based on Location not User

Sales Productivity (Notes/Activities/Calendar )



The Time of an Event is always tied to the Event Owner's Time Zone. Invitees see the Time translated to their own Time Zone. This is particularly problematic for invited Contacts. Since Contacts do not have their own Time Zone setting, the Time is shown in the Zone of the Event Owner. If the Event Owner is in a different Zone than the Event itself, you get a discrepancy that is not necessarily obvious to the invitee. Moreover, if the Contact is a frequent traveler, it's even more confusing for them if the Time isn't set to the location of the meeting. Therefore, I propose the ability to tie the Event Time to a specific Time Zone that never changes regardless of the viewer's settings.

    Thank you all for the comments on this idea. We are currently exploring how to do this in the new Lightning Experience, and there are some cross-team dependencies that make this change more complex. I have asked the Product Manager for an update on potential timing, and will update you when I have more information.
