This is a standard part of Salesforce through Contact Roles. If a Contact is marked as a Contact Role on an opportunity, then that Opportunity will show up on the Contact.

It sounds like you also have a custom Contact Lookup on opportunities.

So one of your lists is the standard Contact Roles and the other is your custom Contact Lookup relationship.

Hi Moazzam,
Please check in Opportunity Fields, how many times it is related to Contact either via Lookup or Master-Detail Relationship
I am sure it will be twice, thats why you are getting 2 related list

Thank's for the quick reply @Bhavna

There is only one custom field is created on opportunity level named "Contact__c" which does the lookup. there are no other fields doing the lookup on Contact object.

Thats strange because Related List only appears when you have Lookup to the Parent Object(Contact in your case) but if still you have same issue (and you are 100% sure there is no other relationship) then better report it to Salesforce Support
Either raise a case from your production org (Best Way)

Send email to support@salesforce.com

Hey Bhavna, here is a screenshot of the relationships, as you can see there is only one lookup from contact to opportunity.

One related list is for standard Contact Roles, the other would be the custom lookup field you have. I would recommend using the standard Contact Role functionality to relate contacts to Opportunities and removing your custom field, which would then remove the related list.

Contact pages always include a "Standard" Opportunity related list. (This is through the Opportunity Contact Roles relationship). - You will not see a look up field in Opportunity for this related list because the contact Role acts as a junction object beween Opportunity and Contact.

The 2nd Opportunities related list you see is due to the custom look up(contact) field you had created with the same child relationship name - Opportunities.

Ah! Ok, I thank you guys, I'm still learning about how Opportunities work, I created the Contact Lookup because I wanted to make sure people link the opportunity to the right person.
