A picklist works in the sandbox but is grayed out after deployment.

I've added a picklist to Opportunity, and added it to the page layout.

Field-level security shows that it should be visible for everyone and not read-only.

This works fine in the sandbox, but after deploying it to production, the picklist is always grayed out and can't be edited.

The field appears under customize->opportunity->fields, and all it's properties look correct.  I can't find any differences between the sandbox and production versions, except that the picklist can't be edited.  Any ideas on what might have gone wrong or how to fix it?

I can directly create a new picklist (which should be the same) by customizing directly in the production instance, and this works correctly, so this feels likely to be some kind of issue with the deployment process (I'm using deployment connectors and outbound/inbound changesets)

I'm also using the non-profit version, if that's relevant.

Thanks,

Do you have record types on Opportunity? If so, add the relevant picklist values to that field in each record type.

The nonprofit starter pack has a few record types.... just go to Setup > Customize > Opportunities > Record Types > Click on the relevant type > Edit your picklist field.

Sane here, the Picklists have been made available to all record types and still greyed out? What could it be?

We are having this same issue. Confirmed values are in record type. It only happens maybe 30% of the time when my Support Consultants go to create a new case. The field is Issue Sub-Type, dependent on Issue Type. There is no rhyme or reason as to when it shows up grayed out versus when it doesn't. Very stumped with this.

I was having the same issue. I removed all but one value, saved, then added all back and saved. That fixed it for me!

Thanks, Hector. This solved the issue for me as well.
