WTF? There is no Setup Tab. You should at least post a link to download Connect.
Matthew LambMatthew Lamb
You could always try asking. Setup isn't a tab, it's accessed by logging into Salesforce, clicking your name at the top right corner, then clicking Setup in that drop down. Are you a system administrator?

See now THAT is a more clear instruction - you should replace the answer in
the forum with exactly what you just said.

@April,
You could also try typing "download outlook" in the Online Help if @Matt Lamb's original instructions were unclear or difficult to follow.

I've also included a link if my instructions or attached screenshot were not clear enough for you to understand ->

All these posts are being added to the thread on the forum, so anyone who finds this in the future will see the updates.

This original post and answer is over a year old, and at some point a while back Salesforce made an update. Some time ago, the Setup link used to be exposed at the top right corner, but then they changed it so it was behind the logged in user's name.

Likely when I wrote the original response, more than a year ago, the Setup link was visible by default.

@April,

Just in case @Matt Lamb's follow-up explaination was not clear enough for you, here is a screenshot of the old UI Theme and the Setup link that he is referring to ->

Thank you

@Nuria - Are you the system administrator? If not, you need to contact your admin to help you with this.

If you are the admin there are some setup steps you need to do first, such as creating an Outlook Configuration. Let us know if you need help with that.

If anyone could help me, that would be great... I have followed the steps and it appears to have downloaded correctly, except when I try and use the tool in Outlook, it says that "Failed to login to Salesforce. An error occurred while attempting to connect to salesforce.com." It does not appear to like my email/password, although they are correct. Ideas??

Chase,  which SFDC Outlook App did you install? (there are 2 versions)  Log into your SFDC org and go mto your User Detail Record and check your Login History.  See if there are any login attempts and error messages for the Outlook plug-in.  You may need to reset your Security Token and log in with that if it's your first time using the Outlook Plug-In -> https://help.salesforce.com/htviewhelpdoc?id=user_security_token.htm&siteLang=en_US

Hi all. This info has been very helpful, thank you, I was able to install the plugin on my windows account. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Mac client? I was not able to find a download.

Thanks in advance,

Help please. I installed salesforce for outlook (mic. office prof + 2010) and although outlook shows the salesforce for outlook plug-in as it is loading - there is no side bar and I cannot find it in my outlook add-ins. The add-in was already enabled. What can I do. I saw another post about right-clicking salesforce for outlook and adjusting settings but when I right-click settings is not an option. I do not want to sync contacts, tasks and events fyi. thanks! Del
