Circular Dependency error

I am converting a lead and attaching it to a current account as well as merging the lead contact with a contact under the account and getting the following error message:

Error: System.DmlException: Update failed. First exception on row 0 with id 001U0000007O1kmIAC; first error: CIRCULAR_DEPENDENCY, attempt to violate hierarchy constraints: [] (System Code)

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks

I've seen a similar error when the person trying to convert the lead isn't the lead owner. Could that be it?

I suspected that the different owners may be a problem,  so I changed the owner of the lead to match the owner of the account and contact and still got the message.

Hi Lori,

Circular Dependency refers to one of the records involved here containing a lookup that if this operation was completed would basically reference itself. So basically you need to find which record would be changed to have that relationship more or less.

Hope that help,

KC
