Mass Email, SF, Vertical Response or Exact target?

I would really like to use SF for my mass email but concerned about analytics and automated lead generation. I've looked at Vertical Response and Exact Target but am left still unsure. My customer is a one person shop so account management wouldn't be much of a deal and we are low volume...ok with 500/ day. We have Enterprise edition.

Thank for any advice,

Rick

I use both of these program and each has its own pluses and minuses.  From what you wrote, either should work fine.  One thing that's nice about Vertical Response is that there is no contract to sign or minimum purchase.  You simply pay for the emails that you send, as you send them.  Because of that, my suggestion would be to start with Vertical Response.  If you find that it does everything you need, then great!  If not, all that would be lost is some time in learning Vertical Response.  The learning curve shouldn't be too steep though.  They hold weekly webinars and have lots of training material online.

Thanks for the feedback. I suspect you would agree that using SF is a non starter.

Automated lead generation would be handled using web-to-lead, and at 500 emails per day the standard mass email feature available in Salesforce may work fine for this situation.  I wouldn't necessarily rule it out.
