You cannot change the Home page,

But you can do one thing...

One Way:

1) Create a tab for the VisualForce Page you want.

2) Create an App in Salesforce and add this tab in the App and set Default Landing Tab to your VF page tab.

Second Way:

Modify the Start Here Visual Force page.

This is not the solution for your problem.

Other way if you only want this on your Home page.

Go to Setup-->Customize-->Home Page components-->New

You can create a HTML Area Component in Home page.

and add it to your page layouts.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply..
one more thing i want to ask , can we change default look and feel of a salesforce ap. Currently the default look and feel of salesforce app is blue.
Can we change it to custimize look and feel??

Not Clear about that.

About Theme of Salesforce:

We can get back the old theme of salesforce.

go to Setup-->Customize-->User Interface

Uncheck the New UserInterface theme over there

In VF page:

In  <apex:page> tag make standardstylesheets ="false" and give a try.

you can use some attributes in <apex:tag> for making Salesforce Style not visble.

Thanks..Its helping me to clear my doubts.

I want to develop a salesforce app and  I want to list it into appExchange.

So what would you advise about salesforce look and feel?

Can you give me any idea about mimicking salesforce standard stylesheets? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using mimicking their stylesheets in our app?

Yes you can create a visual force page in Home Page
Step 1:Create a Visualforce Page. We create a simple static table with some styles to give an appealing look..

Step 2:Create a new HomePage component.

Step 3: Give a name for your component and select"HTML Area" option.

Step 4:Check the "Show HTML" option in the rightmost corner.

Step 5:Type the following code in the editor window

<br><iframe src="/apex/name of youe visual force page?core.apexpages.devmode.url=1" width="500px" height="600px"></iframe></br>

Step 6:Add the component you just now created to your Home Page Layout. And Done!!!

I have one more question related to default Home Page.

What happens if the user has Book marked some page and opens it.
By default, first login page comes and once he logs in, the page is directed to the bookmarked page.
In this case, the Home page doesnt come.

What can we do in this case?
Please guide me on this.
Thanks,
Chellappa
