Adding toSnaebjörn's reply, the functionality here is also a "platform" feature and not one of any kind of process or application. In other words, it SHOULD be Salesforce platform functionality.
And Salesforce hasn't worried about stepping on ISV feet in the past, so that can't be the reason for not doing it. Just look at CPQ and Field Service. They've stepped badly on ISV feet with those processes.

Salesforce really should have a rule that effects when the user's voices outweighs that of app vendors. I understand that vendors need incentive to create apps for Salesforce and they shouldn't have to worry that their app's function will be impemented as standard in salesforce right aftir they launch their app. But 9+ years and +3.500 votes should really make a difference. I love the 3rd party app that delivers the ability that is described in this idea, but isn't enough, enough?

This is a big limitation in Salesforce. If we use an app then that process has to be scheduled to run so the rollups are out of date by a day. It is so core to our use of Salesforce as a development platform and key system for business processing, not just a CRM. PLEASE reconsider

Salesforce please reconsider and add this functionality to the roadmap. Currently there are apps out there that can provide this service, but in a larger organization getting approval to use apps is a bit more intensive. It would make a world of difference if Salesforce could do this for us.
