In certain industries with very long sales cycles (years) served by Salesforce, the concept of 'archived activities' is fine for reporting, e.g. going back only 1 or 2 years, but to not show the full history of all activities on a given Account or Contact record is a major shortcoming. On a related note, ideally a user could see not only all activities but the full set of notes of each of those activities all in one view (e.g. similar to the 'View All' feature for activities in Salesforce Classic).
